SISTER JANE FISCHER

Sister Jane Fischer, CSJ

Jane was born in Rolphton, Ontario.  She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Pembroke on September 8th, 1965, thus serving her Congregation faithfully for over 60 years.

Sister Jane’s ministry was one of faithful service.  She found her calling in working in Pastoral Care and Food Services which began in Ottawa where she was responsible for providing meals and managing the household needs for sixteen Sisters who were working in the city or doing University studies.  Her career took her to our community houses in Whitney, Campbell’s Bay, Madawaska, Deep River, a seniors’ home in Barry’s Bay, and finally culminating her cooking ministry as Food Service Supervisor at the Main residence in Pembroke.  Sister Jane also served in youth ministry and children’s liturgy and when needed, helped teachers out in Classroom situations.  Sister Jane also held a position on the Pembroke Community Leadership Team for one term.

Her Sisters in the Congregation remember her as a kind and generous soul. Wherever Sister Jane lived she provided warm hospitality to all.  Her last residence was Supples Landing where she made it her home, offering her creative talents and nurturing skills to all who lived and worked with her.  She had a talent for decorating for each special occasion and her baking skills were greatly admired by all.  Sister Jane loved plants and flowers and enjoyed the challenges that gardening provided.
