SISTER MARY EUNICE HENNESSY

Sister Mary Eunice Hennessy, CSJ

Eunice Theresa Hennessy was born on September 28, 1926, in Clandeboye, ON, and was received into the Congregation on August 25, 1951.  She is remembered with affection by her CSJ Sisters, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

For 36 years, Sister Mary Eunice dedicated herself to teaching in elementary schools in London, St. Mary’s, and Windsor, Ontario, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and Edmonton, Alberta.  Upon retirement, she returned to London and ministered in the guest wing at Mount St. Joseph, served as sacristan, and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospitality Centre.  During her years in the care centre, her compassionate spirit remained evident, particularly in her devotion to her Sisters who were dying, keeping vigil by their bedside.  Sister Mary Eunice’s world remained large, never forgetting those who requested her prayers.  She had an enduring love for our Congregation and her vocation. She never tired of responding to what God and the dear neighbor asked of her and did so with a generous, cheerful heart.
